Hi everyone! It's been a long and busy day, but Piper (maximillian pionus) is finally home! :) She seems very sweet so far, although she is a little freaked out by all the travel she has gone through today. I got her cage set up and she has already explored it a bit. Right now, I'm just leaving her in her cage so she can get adjusted to her new home. I'll be getting her some more toys soon, but I didn't want to overwhelm her too much from the start.

As I am typing this, she just started eating a little bit! I always love seeing animals eat for the first time after moving to a new environment. :)

Here are a couple quick pictures I took of her after placing her in her cage for the first time. I will definitely be taking lots more pictures as she gets more comfortable.

Congrats!!! She is adorable and Piper is the perfect name! Is she just weaned?

Thanks! Yes, she is still pretty young and is just weaned.

Hope you keep us posted on her maturation. She is so so lovie. Love your cage set up. You must have made a few perhes. She has a good home. What are you feeding her and how old is she?

She is only 3 months old. Just a little baby. Right now I am feeding her the pellet/seed mixture she came with, along with Harrison's pellets and some Bountiful Harvest mix from MSBS. I'm going to try some veggies tomorrow and see how she likes them. She has been eating really well so far!

What a pretty bird! So happy you finally have her! She kind of reminds me of a hawkshead,,,are hawksheads a pionus species?

Nope, different species ;). Although I can see how you would think that based on the way Piper has her head feathers all fluffed up, lol.
