White capped Pionus - Hatched July 24, 2012
Hello everyone,
Just brought home a new baby boy White capped Pionus. His name is Pablo. Everything is going well so far except for one thing. The past few days he has been completely obsessed with climbing up onto my shoulder and yelling into my ear. I continually take him down, try to play in other ways, keep him distracted, keep him well fed, etc. I can't imagine that this is a dominance thing as he's so young. Maybe he is just begging from me? Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks so much,
Andy

Dominance doesn't exist, but it could be a security thing. Does he respond to whispering?

He is full of excess energy and best is to play with him or do as Monica says, whisper to him. (it works too!) I don't think you should move him away from you. He is so young and need you near to make a bond and to feel safe.

Congrats to your new family-member! :)

Great tips! Thanks all for the prompt replies. I'll definitely try out the whispering solution and see how it works.
