I'm trying to use up the only bag of TOPS I've ever bought, because no one is too crazy about it. I was disappointed since this is some good quality food, cold press processed and full of nutrients. :32: Griffin likes it, but I don't want to keep buying a whole bag for one small guy.

Anyway, Raven was getting low on pellets in his Harrison's dish. I thought I'd try throwing in about 10 or so TOPS pellets since I 'thought' I saw Raven eat some TOPS at Griffin's house once, but maybe I was wrong...:52:

Then the FUNNIEST thing happened. I wish I had it on video because it was priceless!! As Raven was eating the Harrison's crumbs and I threw in the TOPS, Raven gave a most HUMAN sounding inflection of a grumble of displeasure!
Sort of a "MMMMRRGGGHHH!" With the tone of voice as if you were enjoying your plate of food in front of you, and someone unexpectedly just threw in a handful of something you dislike into it... If your mouth was full and couldn't speak, think of the noise you'd make LOLOL!! I think if Raven had little hands he'd have reached out and slapped me haha. Then he did a few more grumbles of displeasure, and the body language that went along with it was priceless too! It was SO human-like I couldn't believe it!

SO THEN... I just dumped it all out and gave him some fresh Harrison's instead.
As you can guess, Raven then made an excited happy little "MMMM!!!" And a couple more happy peeps as he scarfed down the Harrison's. :D
All my birds (and past birds) ABSOLUTLEY LOVE Harrison's, including Twigs the budgie. They run to it like it's candy.

It was so funny and human-like I had to share. Probably doesn't sound like much reading it, but I bet you'd have laughed if you were there lol :)

If you didn't know better before, now you do :) Maybe the leftover TOPS could go in some birdy bread

I've never made birdie bread, but it is a good idea for left over crumbs. Throwing away crumbs at the bottom of the dish all the time really add up to $ I'm sure.

I knew Raven and all my boys are smart, but it's things like this that remind me HOW smart they really are. Sometimes with the more sedate species it's easy to take for granted that they're not as smart as a cockatoo for example. I think the introverted species are probably just as smart, it's just harder to notice.

Ha ha, I'm pretty sure Raven is smarter than my cockatoo. Right now Popeye is flattened on the grate trying to reach one of the pellets he just tossed out of his bowl. He's crying while fishing for the pellet and Harry's calling him one of her favorite terms of endearment. I'm not sure why the pellet he tossed is special, he has more in his bowl that came out of the same bag. Goofy bird.

That was so funny!! :D How did you make your birds eat Harrison? None of mine even touches it (or any other pellets excepts Zupreem soaked in juice) - I'm so upset. Have to go with the seed.

I guess I just got lucky! :D From what I hear a lot of people say, not all birds like Harrison's. Every single one of my birds present and past all LOVE it. There was no converting with any of them. They all just dove right in and eat it fast day after day and never get tired of it. It's like it's laced with birdie catnip or something lol. Budgies included. They all love Harrison's as much as they love treats. I can't explain why I've always had Harrison's lovers, but I'm glad. :)

I am cracking up here! How dare you, Mom???
I am glad to hear that Raven has you trained well enough to get him new food after that disaster:)

Justice (the new CAG) has decided that absolutely everything must go in the water dish and soak before eating. Last night we gave him a little millet, and right over to the water dish he goes.

Terry looks like you have a little soup maker LOL!
I'm thankful none of my birds do that. What I do have to watch for now is Twigs little poops in the water bowl that Raven and Griffin drink out of :52:. Since Budgies poop often and he flies all over inside and outside around Raven's dome top... no one wants to drink water with little poos in it :26:
When I'm in there supervising when they're out of the cages, I hate having to keep checking the water and changing it. Ever since Twigs joined the gang this is happening lol. I'm thinking of making some sort of cover that blocks most of the open water surface.

hahaha! That is absolutely phenomenal! I love that angry little response... it's great when birds use things in context. You can't help but giggle. Shiko just learned how to talk, so he'll constantly fly up to our shoulder, look us in the eye, and quietly say, "peek-a-boo!". I'm going to have to watch out for when he starts using grumpy talk like Raven does!

Sounds adorable! I don't think Shiko will ever be as grumpy as Mr. Raven! Lol
