I am very excited and nervous. His name is Elmo! He is supposedly super quiet and allows scritches but is not used to being taken out of the cage so I have work ahead of me! :)

Things are going well with Storm, the dusky. He doesnt like coming out of his cage except for a nutriberry or ball of millet. Indigo, the blue headed pionus loves being out and about but that may because he is not on a stand and climbs down and walks around the house!

Here are pics. He was cage bound in a tiny cage for years. Bo veggies. In a small room with the door closed with 5 other screaming parrots - 2 amazons, a grey, a sever macaw and a quaker. He is in a bigger cage now but won't go in and he does not have to. He is accepting treats from hand and is going crazy for veggies. Poor baby! Would love cage set up ideas. He loves to chew but won't go in the cage so I am putting everything on top. He has been caged enough! He is 8 years old.

He is a squawker. He calls loudly and honks when my husband leaves thee room. He must have loved the man in the house 6 years ago in his first home. His last home was with a lady only but enclosed in a cage in a room with other squawkers. He came fown to see what I was doing today and I gave him an almond
I am still scared of getting bitten.

I'm think you'll do just fine with Elmo. You know how Pionus can be cautious and slow about trusting. Funny how parrots definitely pick up noises from their environment.. hopefully he'll learn from your birds and learn to "not" squawk so much!

He is doing so well! He eats Tops pellets, bean mix and veggies. He steps up now! He wven plays with his toys and doesn't call all day. The squawking is almost gone - He does it if the dogs bark. I love him!!!

I love Pionus! My own Maxis were a delight. They came to me as a breeding pair, and I had every intention of breeding them until I saw the horrible shape they were in mentally. I took almost 2 years to teach them how to be parrots and ended up sending them to live with a friend of mine who will provide a life more suitable for those two individuals. My BHP, Mel, is a joy :) Pionus are so special and unique! I can't wait to hear more about yours!
