I'm getting a beautiful cage for my future pi, hopefully this march I'll be picking up my baby. Just wanted to get some cage ideas and what to buy for the cage , ex.. Foot toys, foraging toys, etc...

Also what food do you have your pi on? Other than fresh fruits and veggies.

Thanks in advance!!!:)

This is right after it was put together, and the resident hadn't quite packed his bags and moved in yet.. I couldn't find it on the Kings cages website just now. Don't know if it was discontinued? I just got it less than a year ago.

It's an odd (not standard) size. It's 33x26. Also, since it goes down to the floor, it seems very spacious. Raven is not a real active guy, and I call him a perch potato at times, so he doesn't really use the whole cage, but his best friend who's half his size loves playing in there lol. Keep in mind, even with a bird who is not real active, the larger the cage the better, as you'll find you have plenty of room to decorate with tons of toys, perches, swing, ropes, etc. The challenge I have with Griffin's cage is that it seems cramped with all the stuff inside. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a 23x32" for a Pionus. All Pi species are big enough to have 1" bar spacing.

Here is Raven and Griffin's current set up

No photos for me yet, but I can tell you the toys she loves!

BIG player. She loves those rubbery plastic balls with holes in it (Holey Roller maybe?) that you can stick stuff in. She jumps on it, fights it, and flies off, hangs upside down - LOVES! Soft coconut husks, pinatas, loofah! Sisal rope. Anything she can grip tightly so she can hang upside down or swing upside down! I had a wire grate soap and shampoo dish in the shower for awhile, and she would hang upside down and flap her wings until she was soaked.

Picky eater.. she started on colored Zupreem to Natural, then to healthy seed mix to sprouted seeds to sprout seed/bean mix, and finally accepted Harrison's. Be careful, if your pi is anything like mine she will starve before she eats something she isn't ready to eat! She's afraid of food that looks like food, so she gets her veggies pureed - it's a big hit :) She also LOVES leaves, so try carrot greens etc as toys. Prefers veg over fruit. Juice and puree is her favorite of all things.

Raven loves toys too. He's not real active and not hyper, but he loves to calmly sit and play. Especially with foot toys. I always have many dropped on the floor lol. His all time favorites are the little plastic nut and bolts.

He also LOVES shreddable mats such as the one on the door of his cage.

Mine is a little small, but it seems to work well for him. He is out a lot. He sleeps in his Avian haven Hut every night. His cage is a featherland 21x30
