Cage issues

When I had my Cockatiel I target trained it to come in and out of his cage and then named what I wanted to do. When she thought she was going to get a treat for going in she was excited to go in.

First off, Pionus are rather famous for not wanting to come OUT, so that's a great problem to have!
-always reward. Age entrance with a treat. An almond is great because it requires them to sit a minute and eat it (thus having a few good minutes in the cage). I suggest having a certain treat that she ONLY gets when she goes in the cage.
-make sure the cage is a pleasant place with plenty of toys, enough space, and located in a place where she won't feel alone.

My WCP is out all day when I'm home. He puts himself to bed every night. If he happens to be on me watching TV when his bedtime approaches he is happy to go back. During the day, that is another story. He's not easy to get to go back, but just the mention of the word Almond makes him hustle back to his cage. Works evertime!
