I'm having a hard time trying to find the Cost of Pionus Parrots.
I also am not finding a good source for them either. I'm looking
locally here in New Jersey, but not coming up with many Bird
Stores that have them.

So if there are any Pionus owners out there and can help me out
with what they believe to be what a Pionus Parrot costs, that would
help me out a lot.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen them for as low as $350 and as high as $900. The rarer species may be higher cost, but I have never seen anything quoted.

Unfortunately, they aren't easy to find. I try to keep up with who breeds them but get a bit behind. I do know you can find them sometimes at parrot rescue organizations.

I hope you find your perfect pi :)

Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Try these people... parrot and company - Bing

They are in Stamford CT.. ( not far from NJ).

I bought BB my Cockatiel from them in April. VERY knowledgeable people!
ALL of their birdies are raised there ( except for the 'keets) and they have MANY species of birdies! If they don't have Pi's,maybe they can steer you in the right direction. GOOD LUCK!

I often see New Jersey breeders posting here. You can easily narrow it down. I think there are a few in Delaware as well. I remember passing by one a couple times on my way to rehoboth beach from DC.

I've found the average cost in the Northeast is about $900-950 at parrot stores (Blue-headed, Maxi)...

I don't know what part of New Jersey, but if you are near Philly then you are relatively close to Lancaster, where there is something listed as a 'black parrot' on the Lancaster craigslist. I've finally seen a picture & think it is a Pionus. The asking price is $250 to $300. I see red under its tail and the face looks Pionus to me. [Picture attached].

And while I don't know if the seller is a flipper, and I know lots of people caution against craigslist birds, we have gotten several sweet birds who just needed new situations that way. Anyhow, if you keep your eye out on the adoption forums and on some Facebook sites - and on craigslist - you can find them between $200 and $400. You will get an adult. Our Pionus have always been rehomed & have always been great companions, although one was only a great companion to ME and not so much to my husband.

There is also A Helping Wing rescue a bit farther north in New Jersey and Feathered Sanctuary south of Lancaster, both of which often [but don't always] have Pionus.

Good luck.
Kim
