Sleeping cage

Hello there everyone,

So my pal, Max, is a 19 year old blue headed pionus. Ive lived with him for about 10 years now. Recently I have decided that my parents will live in my house. Since their arrival about 1 month ago, max has been cage territorial, something that he never expressed before. He used to be very sweet but now hes aggressive towards me and only lets me handle him once in a while unlike before when I could hang out with him whenever I wanted to. Along with this my parents tend to stay up late in the kitchen where max's cage is. He definitely hasnt gotten much sleep and its evident to see that hes cranky. So one day i decided to move his cage to a seperate room in the house around his bed time and left him alone. I moved it back to the kitchen in the morning and he seemed to be back to his lazy carefree self. He even let my parents hold him, something that has never happened before. Instead of moving his giant cage back and forth every night should I invest in a sleeping cage and if so should it have the usual: toys, food/water, etc? What do you think?

Thanks!

Re: Sleeping cage

I have little advice but I know many here will. While you're waiting, I suspect there are threads on this. Maybe use the SEARCH tab to look, while you are awaiting replies? Good luck.

We use a sleeping cage for our DYH Amazon. Its nearly the same as his standard cage with nearly the same layout and other stuff. I used the standard method of introduction, i.e. the boxes worked their way into and than near his cage and than the both of us assembled the cage next to the existing one. With in a couple of days, the sleeping cage began its slow travel to the bedroom.

Go for it!

Re: Sleeping cage

Thanks for the feedback,

My pionus has been very cage territorial since my parents moved in. Do you think this will mitigate that issue?
