Has anyone found a solution for a bird who is in constant mating mode? My female BWP Peggy is 7.5 years old and for the last three years has been doing the pionus "I want to mate" organ-grinder sound, stooping, and lifting her wings for months at a time whenever she can see me. I have offered her two male BWP, and she showed no interest in being a bird. I feel sorry for her, but don't want to drug her with Lupron(which some vets suggest). I'm sort of hoping if I wait another three years it may go away. . . . Thankfully, she has never laid an egg. She has lots of toys and branches, and she eagerly destroys them all day, as long as I'm not in visual range. Her diet is mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, with a teaspoon of seed.

Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
The most heard advise is: be carefull with (too much) fruit -> high sugarcontent is hig-energy-food and that signals the birdbody "this is a time of plenty - so make babies!".
Keep it sober: less hormonal issues (as well as a healthier bird)

On the other hand...it is normal for them to react to longer days, being adults with adult 'urges'; sometimes we do not have to repress nature.

There is no shame in having a normal, healthy adult bird that obviously likes you/ has no clue what species it is...
