Doing great! He has allowed me, my boyfriend and my boyfriend's daughter to pet him on his first day home. He is starting to talk--he says Pretty bird!

He isn't wanting to step up yet. However, I do let him out, and he is fully flighted. He has flown around the bedroom a little and even landed on my shoulder :) I think it is just a matter of time!

awww that is great! landin on your shoulder is a good sign, when he does keep a treat in hand ready to give him!

then start calling him an try to get him to land on your arm/hands, easeir to get him off in future, as they can be very clingy, and as soon as he lands give him treat :)

thanks for up date

Max whispers a lot. As if he is practicing what he is going to say next. :)

MORE PROGRESS....

This morning, I fed Max his usual Pellets and a teaspoon or two of Bistro. But I added some vegetables to the mix (something he only gets in the afternoon, when I am home). I had some millet and was trying to get Max to get out of his cage and onto a perch to see if he would take the millet. He wasn't having any of that.

This evening, I cut up broccoli, snowpeas, and carrots. I had some for my consumption, he had his. I sat in a chair by the cage, opened the cage door and started eating. "Yum, Max, this is great! You gotta try this!"

Well, the curiosity got the best of him. He climbed down to the bottom perch, then flew onto my shoulder. He wasn't initially interested in what was in the bowl. He was more fixated on my glasses and how he was going to eat them. Finally, he took some vegetables out of my hand and ate, but had more fun shaking them off his beak. I looked and felt like a salad buffet. :)

After a while, he flew up to the top of his cage and sat there. I was able to pet him, rubbing his head, face, neck and back. It didn't seem to bother him at all.

I then sat down in a chair. Max looked down at me and decided he was going to sit by me again. So he flew on down, and landed this time on my arm. :)
