Some pictures of my sweet pea Merlin! :)

I think his colours are quite 'dull' looking at the moment and in the last picture you can see a fair bit of white around his head which makes me think the scratching is due to feathers coming in and whatnot.

Getting him started on harrissons today (after our vet visit) so hoping that might brighten his feathers up a little bit since the diet would be a bit better.

He's so fantastic and I wish I could get more and more pictures of him but I have to keep my phone away from him or he'll chew it, so generally pictures are hard to get!

What a sweet heart. Life is about to get a lot more interesting with Senegal in your house hold.

Just had him at the vets today to talk about his dickie leg and stuff.

The vets point blank refusing to do any more for him (aka. like an operation/splinting etc) because he doesn't want to spoil a bird that has such a "fantastic character!"

Made me very proud, Merlin actually adores my vet despite him being handled and splinted with a headcone and all sorts. Haha.

&also not having any issue at all with changing him to harrissons, he wolfed down the little hand full I gave him with no hesitation... and even ate the smallest of crumbs (even though he had had his parrot food in his dish next to him the entire time.

So glad I got him.

I wouldn't worry about the leg if its not causing him pain or problems. None of us are perfect, as long as he's healthy & happy. He's a pretty boy, very laid back. My merlin will not lay on his back unless he is play fighting. I see he's a reader, very good boy Merlin.

He loves sitting with his dad whilst he's reading, although sometimes he can be a bit of a pain when you turn the pages as he likes to try and chew them...

Not worrying about the leg, he himself is fine with it, so it's no big deal if it stays that way, but at the moment because he's still so young, we can do gentle physio to turn his leg around (it'll be backwards though!) but just so he can walk, rather than... hop/limp and hold things with his good foot whilst balancing on his other etc. Normal parroty stuff, if it doesn't work everyones fine with it and the physio isn't tough for him either. He just lies on his back and we 'play' with his bad leg whilst he plays with his good one.

He really is the definition of a senegal: 'bulletproof bird' hes so relaxed about everything and he just loves falling asleep on his back. We're trying to encourage him to do lots of um, 'unusual' experiences to kick out the phobic attitudes of sennies.

I'm so glad to hear about his leg, I'm sure you'll do great w/it. Merlin also like to chew books, he has a terrible rep w/the library ladies. They're like trackers, they can identify little triangle shaped cutouts.

Haha, oh goodness! I can't even begin to imagine the damage that he manages. My boyfriend is really strict about what Merlin chews on but I've come to accept that whatevers mine is Merlins... so it might aswell get some beak marks in now!

Indeed. Kito refuses to be ignored in the morning, and after yelling at me and running around just sits in the nearest corner and stares at me with such intensity that I think her eyes must cross. She's certainly added a little something extra to my morning routine.

My Sennie, too has a little leg issue. Doesn't slow Max down any, nor does it seem to hurt him any, and hoping that the vet things all is good and nothing serious needs to be done with it.

Haha, slows Merlin down a little, made me jealous when I see sennies with two good legs doing all fun things parrots should... then Merlin just has to lie down and play etc.

He's adapted well to it and he's got a good home where his leg is being accommodated the best it can be for now, but gentle physio won't hurt. How old is your Max?

Life has already changed a bunch since getting Merlin, it's less relaxed (which sucks as I've got a chronic illness and need my rest) but he's helping fill the void that my Wonsy left. I wouldn't trade him for anything.
