Max--Senegal

RIP Ricco--Mexican Red Head Amazon
My Senegal, Max has figured out her foraging toy. :)

A month ago, I bought a yellow treasure chest foraging toy Foragewise Parrot's Treasure Bird Toy by Nature's Instinct: Foraging toys for pet birds The first day it was in her cage, she stood on top of it and tried to pry it open with he beak. Quite determined to open it, but with no success. She then decided the best way to open it would be to open the quick link--perhaps she could then knock it onto her grate and it would shatter. She could get the link open, but never could figure out how to fling it off the bars. Max then made another discovery--the chest had keys. She would open one, and not the other. Still nothing. Frustrated, she would close the key she had opened. Finally, she has figured it out, and has given me the "Yeah, you can refill the loot now." look.

Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
I'm just getting into foraging, after taking a parrot training and enrichment class this past weekend. I can't wait until we get to the fun stuff, but for now, Finn has a basket in which I put his almond. He will only get the almond if he can see it, so we're working on encouraging him to 'Go see,' what's in the basket :)
