Hello Everyone! :D

I have a 4 year old Sennie. We have a strong bond, but only if my hair is down...

Weird right?!

Whenever I tie my hair up he knows that it is me, but he would come to me attack me or sit on me all puffed up squinting at me (which looks like he is giving me evils) and sometimes even growling!

As soon as I let my hair down, he is back to his bubbly self, asking for cuddles and attention.

Because of his baffling behaviour I can't put my hair up :(

Anyone else's parrots do this?
Anyone know how I can train my parrot to like me with my hair tied up? xD

They all seem to have their likes and dislikes!!
My Zon will not come near me either if I have my Hair up:(

I am not sure that here is an answer to this problem:(

Not weird at all! My bird bites me if I wear a baseball cap. Some birds hate furniture being rearranged and some hate thing like red nail polish etc.

My brown head is similar but he doesn't care about my hair. I actually have to change my clothes in front of him though so he knows it is still me. If I change my clothes without him watching, as weird as that sounds, he always seems to be super mean to me as if he doesn't know it's me still or thinks I am tricking him into stepping up on some stranger. Don't I still pretty much look and smell the same? I guess not! lol

Maybe try putting your hair up with your senegal watching so he knows it is still you? Might be worth a shot! ;) Good luck!

well, if you think about it, it makes sense that they they may not recognize you after you change clothes. they are very visual creatures. Birds' feathers don't change colors on a daily basis, so their brains may not be as accepting of our appearances to change on a daily basis.

My conures hate blue nail polish with a passion, and my sennie is ok with hair up or down, but the most i can have in my hair without him attacking me is an elastic hairband. No headbands, bobby pins, etc. Picky picky! He also only eats his yellow pellets, he wastes so much food. Lol...

My Zeus is the same exact way, if i wear i ballcap, he'll still climb up on my shoulder but the whole time he'll be pinning his eyes at me and lotta growling. but when its off he's fine, he clucks, clicks, chirps, whistles, purr with me, tries to feed me, all around loving bird, but when he sees me wearing at hat throws a fit all over his cage, screeching, spitting, loud growling, banging on the bars, grabs a beak full of water and throws it; until i take it off and look normal again. I'm like the third or fourth owner for him, so i wonder if someone possibly did something to him to make him act that way. But good luck with yours, maybe put your hair up while in front of him/her see if its ok that way

I think senegals just tend to have phobias! Mine doesn't mind changes in my appearance. Things like wearing my hair up or down, wearing a hat, wearing earrings, wearing glasses, painting my nails, etc. don't result in any birdy agression. That being said, I learned long ago never to try holding her while talking on the phone! She'll viciously attack the phone and the hand holding it until I manage to get her back her in her cage to calm down. She's also terrified of ceiling fans *shrug*.

Naw our senegal is a trip when were on the phone, he'll be on our shoulder and of course you've got the phone on your other shoulder/ear and as your talking n having your conversation you'll be hearing a lil voice going "hello, whatcha doing" almost the whole conversation, and then when you get off the phone, he goes silent and won't answer you.
