ok....just curious, I am a owner of a beautiful 8 month old Senegal, we named her Safari. We've had her about 2 weeks and has settled in very nicely. I've noticed lately every time she steps up on my finger, she rubs her beak on my hand.
What does that mean? We don't know for sure if she is a she or a he, lol.
I don't think she's just cleaning her beak, and was wondering if it meant something else....hopefully displaying affection towards me??

Definitely displaying affection, their way of showing love
Mishka, my AG of 5 years old still does it evey time I pick him up.
When sitting on my lap, he often cleans his beak, using my hand, and other times he just shows affection.

Just to be safe, check inside your bird's beak, there may be some food stuck in it.

thank you for the video!, AG's are beautiful and smart;)
that's what Safari does with my fingers, but also does it when she wants to be patted too, as wentz commented on as well.
She does not get along with any of my birds, what so ever, she seemed interested in my pure pineapple conures, but when I let them out together, she just wanted to have them for lunch:eek:

Rosie is adorable sometimes, she will puff out all her face feathers and rub her beak/cheek on my cheek as she purrs. Definitely a sign of affection if they're beak rubbing... other then just cleaning their beak lol

Hehe, definitely affection, or beak cleaning. But usually affection :p

Glad you're already getting signs after such a short period of time! :)

Our sennie does it too, its usually to get petted, or after he eats to clean his beak, or i've also read up, its a way they mark their territory, so guess were his property lol.

Codie does this when she wants me to pet her :)

Sorry Sis Codie is a male  LoL we have to remind you

Took me ages to get used to calling Mishka him insted of her, in time you will get it right

:grey:

OH... When is it going to sink in my head to call Codie HIM ?:11:

Ha!

We still forget sometimes and use "he" and "him" referring to our friends' Blue and Gold even after she laid an egg last spring. Fortunately, Santana doesn't seem to take offense.

Our Senegal seems to do the beak rubbing thing most often when someone takes a break from petting him. It's sort of like he's saying "Hey, don't stop!"
