What pellets do you feed your Senegal?

I just want to know what other senegal owners are feeding their parrots in terms of pellets? I am thinking about switching mine to a different brand. Figured I would ask what you all feed/what is most readily accepted.

Kaytee Exact Rainbow. Though he really does not eat a lot of them because of the fruits and veggies I give him. I usually give him about a little less than a tablespoon full. He probably eats about half of them during a day. I used to feed Zupreem but I had been having weight problems with my two blue crowns and my vet recommended the Kaytee because it has less sugar. She did have an interest in the food because she worked with Kaytee in it's formulation but I trust her opinion of it because she is a very good bird vet. I miss being able to take my birds to her but I moved from Florida to Minnesota and that is just a little too far to drive.

I don't have a senegal, but when it comes to pellets I always recommend Harrison's pellets and Totally organic pellets. Rosie won't touch the normal harrison's(except to careful drop them out of her bowl) but adores the fine sized pellets.

I tried Harrison's with Rio back when I first got her, she would not touch it after she tried it once and quickly spat it out. It ended up being a waste of money for me, which is a shame because I know its an amazing food!

I have tried Zupreem and she will eat some of it but only the green ones and the banana shaped ones haha. I also dont like how it has added sugar. I havent tried Kaytee yet however.

Right now she is on a mix of 50%-60% Tropican pellets and the remainder is seeds, nuts, dried fruit, legumes, dried veggies, etc. And I put 3 pellet berries in her dish in the morning. I think she is bored with Tropican pellets now (or maybe they have changed something slightly?), the last little while I have found she has been flinging most of them out of her dish. I think its time for something different.

She LOVES nutri-berries, I give them to her as a treat.

Of course she gets fresh stuff every day too, right now consisting of apple, corn, peas, blueberries, and cooked oatmeal. Next week will be mixed veggies and brown rice.

I don't have a Senegal, but Harrison's pellet is really good. Although some parrot won't eat it, but it is kind of worth giving a try becuase your parrot may like it. And the ingredients in Harrison's is really food, lots is human grade. The totally organic pellet is good too. Basically anything that is organic wont be bad.

I also really like roudybush, it's a really good brand but its not organic though. And most parrot seems to enjoy the pellet, so this won't be a bad brand to try.

Has anyone tried Golden'obles by Goldenfeast? The ingredients list looks decent and contains a lot of organic stuff.

I'm feeding Tropicana, but I'm switching over to Zupreem

Totally Organics Pellets (TOPs)

most of my birds seemed to accept totally organic pellets(tops) with relative ease.
I do use the Harrisons mash for one of my cockatiels who is older and will not convert over to pellets.

I am going to try TOP's, Oven Fresh Bites, and Golden obles and just see what she accepts best. Out of all the brands I looked at I liked the ingredients in these three the best however if I would have to guess I think Rio is more likely to accept OFB or GO over TOP's.

OFB has agreed to send me samples once their stock is replenished, GO no longer sends out samples but did send me a list of Canadian retailers, I have yet to hear back from TOP's as to whether or not they will send samples.

Any one out there use OFB or GO?

Kippy eats Harrison's the larger size pellet, not the crumble looking ones. Like many others it seems, she HATED IT when I first tried switching her over, and let me tell you something, if that is the only thing in her bowl for two days she will be devouring them very shortly. I used the cold turkey method to switch Kip over from a seed diet, because I deemed it to be less stressful in the long run. Now she loves Harrison's!

There are three reasons why I dislike Harrison's

1) my bird did not like it
2) its a rather expensive food
3) the first ingredient is corn

I dislike the used of corn as a first ingredient out of habit, I dont give my dogs or cats any food containing corn. Its sort of made me turn my nose up every time I see it as a leading ingredient in parrot food. I am not comparing my sennie to my dogs and cats, obviously they have much different needs nutritionally. And I am not against corn in a parrot diet all together, I give Rio corn with mixed veggies, but I dont like it as a leading.

The first ingredient in TOP's is rice and the ingredients that follow are a lot like Harrison's, just imo better. The first in GO is quinoa, much healthier than corn and rice, also to follow it has a ton of veggies and fruit, even bee pollen. The first ingredient in OFB is oat flour, and is also followed by many fruits and veggies. So those are the three I am going to try with Rio.
