Red Belly Parrot :)
It's hard to believe its been almost a week since I brought him home!

I have successfully switched his diet to pellets and fesh fruits and veggies very excited about that! Pellets were easy. Fresh fruits and veggies he discovered the joy in them yesterday! Come to find out if they are not cut up (I mean no longer than an inch) he will just stare at them! Cut a carrot down to an inch and oh my he's in love!

He now takes treats from my hands. He will even climb throughout his cage to get one.

He still doesn't want to be touched but has nibbled with curiosity but won't take the plunge to get on my hand. I am rewarding his touches so he knows my hands are a safe place.

I have inadvertently taught him to whistle for me! He will whistle and I will whistle back but he knows ill come over and give him a treat. He also seems to understand good night and ill be back! He doesn't whistle after those sayings! Sometimes I wonder if he was really hatched in January!

He is such a delight I just wanted to share! We will continue touch training. I'm going with slow and steady. My kiddos say he is quiet when I am gone then when I get home he just chatters away! It's a very beautiful sound!

Thought I would share!

Sounds like he is getting you squared away...and only in a week...give him some more time & you may be able to hire him out to train other new parrot owners.....
