My Jardine's parrot is 12 years old and she has laid eggs for the first time. She does not have a mate, so they are not fertile. The first egg was laid on April 29. She has been sitting on them for 39 days. She refuses to leave her eggs for more than a few minutes, just long enough to eat quickly and potty. I've read not to take the eggs away and she will lose interest in them, but I'm starting to wonder. Is this normal?

You need to remove the eggs now. Do not provide her with a box, nest or nesting material. They lay an egg about everyother day so start counting 29 days from the last egg. At 29 days the eggs can be removed. Afte they have finished laying it is best to try and remove the eggs and boil them for about 10 mins. This way if they break there will not be any odor. I read that you can substitute ping pong balls for the eggs. Is this true??

I have never heard of ping pong balls. Many use clay eggs or even small stones.

Is there anything wrong with letting her stay on the eggs for as long as she likes? I'm afraid she will pester me for a nest all over again. I caved in after two months of intense pestering and gave her a box. I have never seen her so happy.

Well, depends! If she accidently breaks an egg, that will weaken over time, are you ready for your whole house to smell like sulpher?
Remove the eggs! DO NOT give her a nest, what ever you do. Provide some new toys and foraging toys. She needs some busy time. She is using her body's energy to warm the eggs. This is not healthy for such a long time.
