I am a nest?

Gollum has decided that anytime I bend over, it is the time to fly and land on my head..... just waiting for him to poop on my head :30:

There is this thing he does were he bends his head down, opens his mouth and kinda bobs or sways at me. No, I dont have a video. Sound familiar though?

When Dexter did that bent over bobbing and swaying stance it was not at all friendly. In my case it was clearly territorial, and I got a bite to prove it. I hope yours was more playful!

He seems to be friendly. As though he is trying to get my attention. I pet him and he doesn't bite at me (90% of the time lol). I have only had him 5 days, I am still trying to learn his body language and noises.

I feel they go through different phases trying just about anything.

Lately, ours tries to jump ... into my mouth. He sits on my chest with fluttering eyes, making a distinct purring sound (I think penguins make that sound when they want to mate...), showing utter love by making the throwing up gesture a couple of times, and then jumps forward. He's not attacking me, there's no biting or anything, and he shows incomprehension when I fend off.

People often say I have a big mouth, maybe he thinks so too? But in all seriousness, I think it's hormones in his case (he's almost 2) while not knowing exactly what to do with it.

Birds will 99.9% of the time give clear signals through their body language. It's good that your learning this.

One of the big reasons birds and shoulders are a "no no" (for me) because if you can't read your bird, a serious injury can eventually happen. I don't even like Kiwi on my shoulder. Someone across the room can be doing something she doesn't like and who do you think she is going to take it out on? yep me!

When they don't want to be messed with, they will move away. A clear sign "leave me a lone" When we fail, we get bit. An even clearer sign "I said, leave me alone" Our goal is to build trust. A little each day, so we need to read these signs and signals they give off and respect their space.

Into your mouth?? Interesting... ew!

Kiwis favorite thing to do right now is fly. Since she is now flighted, when I am in the kitchen trying to accomplish, let's say.... the dishes, she will fly to me. I stop what I am doing and send her back to her cage. Which is then repeated 150 million times..

She especially likes to wait until I am no looking, then the next thing I know she is on my head, or back, or my shoulder (no-no) One time I turned around just as she took off for my head and she did a face plant. Fortunately for me I was wearing my glasses. My husband was laughing hysterically. I was a little amused. :30:

Kiwi can be very persistent... So now if I want to get anything done around the house (uninterrupted) I have to put her away. This took me forever to type because she is doing it again..... :09:
