I wanted to get Gollum a harness. I am curious as to which brand you recommend and also what size. He/she is about 12 weeks old and I just want to make sure the sizing is correct for a Sennie

Aviator harness is the best.
They have a size chart with weight.

Not sure on Senegal beak strength compared to a Cockatoo, but I "hung" my aviator harness in the cage to "familiarize" my U2 with it as suggested by the instructions.... within minutes she had the metal clasp that connects the harness to the leash detached.

Just an FYI.

The Aviator is what most of us will recommend. However, their sizing chart is a bit off. I'd call the company and speak to a 'real person'. They might want you to measure Gollum in inches from neck to rump, and give weight in grams.

Starting young as possible with anything new is best. Especially in birds known to be inclined to get nervous or phobic like Poicephalus. If you wait too long, they get set in their ways, and comfortable at home. When they're older and not used to stuff, they can actually find it fear inducing to go out instead of something good.

I jumped right in after receiving my hot pink aviator harness for sissy. She wanted nothing to with it when it was on her cage. But all we did was put her on the kitchen counter and put it on her. She did awesome!! She didn't try to eat it or anything..lol and once she was outside it was really cool to see the look on her face.. Happiness. I have got pix in my profile and I got her a medium.

The sizing chart worked correctly for my BTM, but I haven't tried with my sennies. Good luck!

Albert wears a Small sized Aviator. He does not like it much, but it's good for him to go outside once in a blue moon.

I ordered the XS Aviator because that is what it suggested for a Senegal. I did not take Julies advice (because I am lazy) and call to make sure. The hole for the head seems really small. I put her on my chest and held it beside her so she could see it, touch it etc. I put it around her head after a few and it fit. SHE HATED IT! It was snug to get off. Im not sure if that is how it should be... Anyhow, I will keep trying. I WILL however take ToMang07's advice and NOT hang it in the cage LOL! All she wanted to do was chew on it. I didnt put her wings through because of her reaction when I put it around her neck. Should I just force it on and leave it for a while so she gets use to it or take it slow?

Don't feel bad ..sissy has worn her harness a few times, but yesterday she had to be different. I got it over her head just fine and when I tried to put her wings in...she sounded like I was killering her..so I stopped. Let her calm down and tried again. Let's just say she didn't go out. Moody little girl!!

None at the moment
When I put Rio's aviator on for the first (and only) time, that was the first time I got bit hard, and my husband got bit worst and she never trusted his hands again. It was sad. I had to cut it off of her in three places. I ordered her a flight suit, but she never wore. So if anyone is interested in a flight suit for a Senegal I have one, brand new.

I have a flight suit for kiwi, but she hates it and she swims in it, so I ordered her plet sized aviator type harness for her, still waiting for it to come in the mail.

What is the difference between the aviator and the flight suit?
