Dobby- Indian Ringneck
Hatch Day- 7/16/15
Gollum (Senegal) is 10 months old now and Dobby (IRN) is 8 months old. They are both doing great. Their personalities have not changed. Gollum loves me and tolerates the rest of the world and she is FEARLESS. Gollum also started molting a month or two ago, it seems she has stopped but she did not lose the clipped flight feathers. Dobby has recently started to mimic the cat call whistle my husband does for her (no words yet) and she will step up for everyone in the family and loves being on shoulders and preening hair but DOES NOT want to be petted or scratched (love on HER terms lol). She will sometimes watch Gollum snuggling with me, getting scratches and she looks like she is envious and comes over but if I try to touch her head she growls at me. It is like... I want to be scritched and snuggled but if you try it, I will bite you. Their personalities are so different. I have to have separate play stands because Gollum will chase Dobby off. Gollum does not want Dobby near her BUT if they are not in the same room Gollum seems anxious and calls for her.
Anyhow, I still want another one! I am trying to decide between a African Grey or Macaw.
I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi, thanks for the update. My Pionus Raven sounds like Dobby when he's jealous of Robin getting cuddles. He doesn't always want to step up then  even though part of him wants to. You can see he is torn between his jealousy and his independence lol.

At 10 moths old, Gollum and Dobby are both still juveniles, and their behavior won't change for a while yet. At first you'll get the pre-teen changes in behavior which may present challenges, then after a few years 'real' hormones kick in. My own humble opinion based on expeience, is that if you get a third bird now, you will, in several years time, have 3 "teenagers" going through hormones. You might get lucky and have individuals who aren't all that bad, but you still don't know as your two are way too young to show all facets of their final 'adult' personality yet.

Just curious, why is it that you'd like a Grey or a Macaw specifically?

EXACTLY! She WANTS to want it LOL!

So what you are telling me is that when my two kids are turning into teenagers my two fids will also be turning into teenagers?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WTH!

I looked at my post and forgot to mention that my plan is NOT to get another baby bird. I want to rescue an adult bird. I have filled out an application at a avian rescue about an hour away. I am in NO RUSH to get another bird. I will only be getting one more bird. Seriously, the cleaning and quality time spent with them as well as having kids, three parrots will max me out. So I want to make sure I get the right one. I know I want a larger parrot. My reasons for leaning towards AG is their talking ability (I understand that not all will talk and if I found a adult that chose me... I would care less about him/her talking). I had also thought about an ekkie female because of the striking beauty (female because I have a beautiful green sennie already). As far as a Macaw, I am mesmerized by them. They are so large (possibly too large for me, we will see lol). When I picked up my babies from the breeder, she has a Green Wing Macaw. She is about 25 or so (if I remember correctly) and when she looked at me, it is really hard to put into words, it was unlike anything I have ever experienced. This was not like any other animal looking at you. It was humbling and I felt inferior. I know that sounds crazy. Anyhow, who knows, I could go to the rescue and bond with a cockatoo! LOL I am open minded even though I hope I find a parrot that speaks well. That will not be a deal breaker.
