Today I went to Loveland and visited Susanne at Avalon. Got to see the red belly babies, meet her Capes, her personal brown head... Drool over the toys. Omg she has such an amazing supply of everything! Wish her website was more up to date.

The red bellied are still hand feeding twice a day so looks like 4-6 weeks til they are fully weaned. It looks to me that she has two females and a male in this clutch. She is sexing them to make sure. Does anyone have advice about whether a female or male makes a difference behaviorally!? Susanne seems to think the females don't nip as much as adults. She has female brown head, cape and red bellied as her personal pets. The boy was very snugly with the hand feeder who had had them at her house for a few weeks. There was an older sister with the same parents there who was absolutely precious. So friendly. I would have taken her home today but someone already had a deposit on her.

Guess I am torn. I have only had female birds in the past. What ha all think?

I was just up there a few weeks ago, brought home over 30lbs food! You did see they are overwhelmed with rescues that really deserve a good home!

Oh shoot. She mentioned rescues and we got to talking and catching up 15 years worth of stuff (yes she remembers the freak cage accident I lost my zon to) and of course I broke down in tears talking about. You would think a decade later it wouldn't be so raw. Ugh

I was overwhelmed by the toys and supplies and food choices and toy parts oh my! I spaced following up with her ok the rescues. I popped her an email already asking her since her webpage is out of date (unless those are still the birds in rescue there from 2015)
Thanks for the reminder

They lost their aviary, the rescues are now in the back room(s)! Much more than on the outdated site!

..I wanted to add, yes, the birds are a bit crowded, but very well cared for! All the cages are clean, all water/food! I videoed 43---but some are boarders and personal family. All had well sized cages of their own!
My point, although a large group, they are not overwhelmed! They will work with you to place a bird into a good home, but same rule,, You will need to prove yourself first, to them and your potential baby!
