My Jardine is a menace. Help!

My mom bought a baby Jardine parrot for my dad 6-7 months ago and he was sweet to everyone at first, then one day he decided he hated strangers, then my dad, then me and my brother, now he only likes my mom. My dad is a little butt hurt about it but the rest of us are okay with it but now he's becoming aggressive with my mom as well.
He bites her all the time, some of those bites are misdirected aggression because she sometimes has him on her shoulder when she's doing chores and if she does something he hates he will bite, whether or not he's got her full attention. He's also started to scream for hours on end, every day it gets worse and worse.
He spends about 6-8 hours a day out of his cage and we feed him fresh fruits and veggies and he's got a bunch of toys but he's just so angry, and we don't know what to do anymore. My mom and I have been thinking of giving him to someone if we can find a good experienced home and he likes the person but it wouldn't feel right to do it without trying to make him happy first. Does anyone have any advice or insight or ideas on what we could do to at the very least make him less aggressive and maybe lessen the screaming?

There are people here who can tell you about some of their tactics... my ideas are sort of low-tech and somewhat embarassing. My bird is a pretty nippy guy, but I have lessened the bites to almost zero over the decades... not because I've changed the bird, but I have changed me. And a lot of that has involved giving up on a lot of my desires/expectations. After years of battle, I surrendered. I don't do stuff that gets me bitten. I don't scratch his head much, ever... tail is okay, go figure. I NEVER do stuff that makes him mad... I don't touch others when he's out; I rarely try to get him to step up onto my hand first. Hand-held perch first, then hand. In some ways, I swallow my disappointment at having such a little Genghis Khan for a pet, but he is what he is. I ALWAYS wear my hair down when he's on my shoulder, so all he can bite is hair.
So I guess what I'm saying is... wherever the dust settles... after you have followed all the best advice... please let it be okay. Don't do stuff that gets you bitten... take whatever ridiculous precautions needed and just love your little maniac.

But please... listen to and try all the good advice you'll get here. Don't surrender until you know you've done your best. Then just accept it, is what I'm trying to say.

As a jardine's parrot owner,I recommanded a book for you: the senegal parrot and its family. you can perchase this book from the amazon, on the book ,there a lots of methods or ideas could help you! I am living in China,one of my friend bought this book for me and I learned so much thing from it,now ,my little GuoAi(you can see him in my album) and me have a balanced and healthy relationship.
Jardine just like a very REAL FAMILIY MEMBER LIKE HUMAN. At first,I regarded GuoAi like my pet,or my little slave(that means he is my treasure).It is a very serious mistake! and because my inappropriate attitude，I got some bite. Then I try to solve the problem,I just read the book,learn the methods and put into practice，Yes! I got the point! the relationship between us changed alot. Now, when I let him on my shoulder,GuoAi just bite my old T-shirt，LOL. he is so sweet that even my wife could play with him such as shake hands(feet)^_^.


my suggestion:
1,buy the book"senengal parrot and its family"
2,do not regared him as a pet,
3,learn the poicephalus(jardine's) behavior language.this is the most important thing!
4，Precise knowledge of self and precise knowledge of the threat leads to victory.

To the OP, patience. Try one thing at a time, and give it time ( weeks maybe) to work. Don't try to implement everything at once.

I would say that there is a lot to learn. Putting him in another home wont help, unless that person *really* knows what they are doing.

Can you speak Chinese? Now,some baby jardines in China are already grew up，fresh guys joined the "poicephalus club".They also have the same problem such as "bite" for now,and I just trying to find a right way to tell them how to deal with it.:05:
Most of the Chinese parrot feeder or breeder even can not speak english words. I just try my best to help them, after all,on this point:feeding a parrot, China has a long history{1000years ago, one of the chinese emperor in Song dynasty，draw a Lori in the picture } but little technique.We need learn more from the experienced Americans.
