I have a 7 year old Senegal parrot whose wings are never clipped. After her last molt, only one wing's flight feathers grew back. The other wing's flight feathers were delayed by a couple of months. They are now starting to grow in, but are yellow instead of their normal dark grey. Anyone know what may have caused this? :gcc:

What happened prior too and during the molt that resulted in the delay in the one Wing's feathers not growing back in balance with the other Wing's feathers. Wing feathers molt and grow back in balanced side to side to assure that the Bird can always fly.

Feathers place a huge demand on the physical stores of the body and the quality of the diet prior to and during the molt and regrowth of the Wing Feathers. A shortage on either side can greatly effect the regrowth, timing and quality of the feather's growing back in.

A full Spectrum Blood test will identify what is missing in s/he's body.

NOTE: Sometimes, emerging feathers will have a different look to them as they sit inside of the shaft, but you would know the color of the shaft as seem on the other Wing.

FYI: I just read a Post by SilverSage in which she noted: "possible liver issues causing abnormal yellow feathers"
At this point, I would recommend that you take your Parrot to an Avian Vet and have a full Blood Spectrum completed - Sooner Rather Than Later!

Yes definitely agree with Sailboat's FYI, to me this is a red flag and needs AV assistance. Just be sure your AV has the same issue in mind.

Thank-you plumsmum and Sailboat for your comments! I will make an appointment with the vet.
