In our yard here in Burundi, it’s expected at some point to see Meyers parrots that are indigenous to this area. They’re so beautiful. I didn’t take this pic, I just think they’re beautiful.

Currently I have none, but I have the capacity to adopt a minimum and maximum of two budgies - preferably a bonded pair or two males.
Lovely! Very beautiful.

Burundi must be fantastic. Do you have Mountain Gorillas there? And African greys?

Burundi is beautiful. So many birds, we have some lovebird species here as well as African greys. The mountain gorillas are across the border in DRC and Rwanda.

Beautiful. the brilliant yellow "epaulets" just leap out against the charcoal-y wings.

We have the Cape Parrot here in South Africa. I don't live in the area of the country where they are found (East and southeast coast), but there are conservation efforts that aim to protect the species because it is currently endangered (The Cape Parrot Project). Although I have visited the provinces where it is mostly found, I have yet to see one in the flesh since they are so elusive. Hopefully one day I will! The wildlife here really is incredible!

Even in the city I live in, the bird life in our garden is wonderful, my mom and I often bird watch and try to identify certain species lol! And with a beautiful backdrop of Table Mountain, it really is a great place to live.

Just checked the list on HBW.
You have got
1. Grey Parrot
2. Brown-necked parrot
3. Brown parrot (that you shared)
4.Red-headed lovebird.

and also some vagrant population of Fischer's lovebird.

Hope you see them all some day :)

I would love to live somewhere parrots were native to, just to see them out in nature. Are the Myers parrots the only native species to Burundi? I know the African continent has poicephalus and African grays (of course:)) and I think one or more of the ringneck species. What other species of parrots or is that it?

Years ago we had a neighbor who had a girl from Burundi staying with her while she went to the local college on a student visa. I had never heard of the country before then. I remember being amazed someone from so far away would be going to a very small and not well known rural community college instead of a better known university in a bigger city.

Hi Kiwibird

I have answered your query to this in my previous post (though it is from the book or rather web pages) but Lea may be able to give the on -field answer :)

Hello! Not sure if we have any ring neck species here! Not all lists we see online are reliable, I guess parrots don’t respect borders when flying [emoji23] but I will begin taking photos.
