a super tame 3 year old Meyers Parrot. The reason for the rehoming is because the owner is getting an African Grey, (his dream bird) and can't have two birds. What a shame, there's no way in the world I would ever consider rehoming my Senegal just because I wanted an African Grey.

I hope he finds a great home for his Meyers parrot, not for him but for the bird. Ihope he gets his new African Grey Dream bird and it BITES the crap out of him!

It's just like trading up from a Hooptie car to a Cadillac. But unfortunately birds aren't machines and shouldn't be treated like that. I usually don't let it bother me when I read stuff like this, but I just had to send this guy an email and tell him what a real sweet heart I thought he was, NOT!~

Sadly craigslist is full of things like this. Although it makes me sad, I find myself checking everyday. :(

I babysat a Meyers once. Oh I loved him so. Such a funny, smart, little bird. Such a shame that someone wants the "cool" parrot. I hope the grey they get never says a word. ;) Ok that is mean, but, you know that is why they want one, because they "talk."

That's a sorry excuse.....You can't trade animals, they're not clothes that you can change to whatever you want the next day. Those are the sorry excuses for a pet owner.

I saw an ad on pennswoods.net today with a similar story. The person is selling their umbrella cockatoo (whos just the friendliest bird, with no issues, etc etc) because they have a baby green wing on the way and can't divide their time between the two. So sad....... :(

He wants $300.00 for the Meyers Parrot, which he said was negotiable to the right home.

Even worse when they sell em over a hundred dollars. I understand a simple rehome fee but not the price the same as a baby's worth. I get stuck buying the birds all the time just to get em out the owners hands. But it's warm feeling once I find them there permante home

I know what you mean. I think he's trying to re-coop his investment. He said nothing about a cage. I noticed that he relisted his ad this morning for the Meyers, but smartfully took out the part about getting his dream bird African Grey. I guess he nay have gotten a few not so sweet emails over that issue.
