Today after many attempts to get Chino to eat something different than seeds. I made some oatmeal with cherries, apples, cranberries and some orange zest. I sprinkled it with cinnamon and red pepper flakes. I know yummy right? It seems that he likes it, he had more than a mear taste. I'm so excited that he finally ate something different.:green2::D

I guess he thought it was good stuff. I have to admit it looked pretty tasty. However, I'm not so sure with the red pepper it would have been all that lol.:green2::D

good. i guess you already know seeds arent the healthiest thing. but that sure sounds yummy AND healthy! I guess Chino at least agrees with the yummy part! haha. im in the process of switching Cooper from seed/zupreem mix with around 60% seed and 40% zupreem to a roudybush all natural with added seeds so about 90-95% roudybush and 5-10% seed. right now he just got the roudybush introduced. so around 50% zupreem 15% roudybush and 35% seeds.once this mix is gone the next will be around 40% roudybush 40% zupreem and 20% seeds. after that is should be about 50-50 roudybush and seeds. then every time after that just slightly lesss seed. its working so far. he likes the roudybush because it crumbly so easy.he doesnt really like really hard food. like when i give him some pretzal(unsalted) he likes the tase, but not the crunch. so i cant buy what my family eats, those really hard sourdough. i buy him less hard ones. lol

Congratulations to you and Chino. :) The cinnamon alone would get Ralph to try it-- he loves cinnamon (and fortunately, a little cinnamon is good for parrots).

Keep offering other different foods to Chino, and eventually you'll find more things that he likes. It can take lots of time for a fussy parrot to accept new foods, but persistence often pays off. It took me 8 months to get Ralph to eat broccoli, and now it's one of his favorites.

my lil QP ~Tuukee~ loves to eat human food. I give him the healthy stuff of course, but he loves his wheat pasta, and broccoli; hard boiled/ scrambled eggs, pomegranates, hot peppers are just some of his favorites.
