I think most of her vocabulary was there when we adopted her, but she has a knack for combining words into new phrases for new purposes.

She's always scolded us with 'you go night night' or said 'go night night' at bedtime. We always tell her goodnight before turning out the lights and leaving the room, and she just now started saying 'go-night' back.

She uses damnit for loud noises, scolding the dogs, when the vacuum appears. But the F word is for people that piss her off in some way. She looks right at you and calls you a f***er. When Aubrey was in her space and didn't move fast enough, she lunged at him and called him the F word 3 times.

They're getting along good so far. I think Lucky must be a boy and Aubrey a girl, based on their periodic dating behavior. Could be wrong though. Lucky seems to like the company, as does Aubrey. We're still keeping a close watch in case we need to separate them.

It's sure helping us a lot too. It's nice to have a birdie that needs a new start in life.

My partner (NOT a bird person) has even admitted to being glad we got the little bugger, and is taking the lead in working with him :D

Morning with parrots:

Lucky & Aubrey {marching around the cage bottom}: YIPE YIPE!! Squawk!!! Yipe!!

Me: You guys be quiet. Is that really necessary?

Lucky: ...talk....talk....{not quite saying 'talk nice'}

Me: Use your words.

Lucky: F***er!

Last night Lucky took a very thorough bath, completely soaking himself. I went over and picked him up for a closer look and said "oh Lucky you're soaked!" in what must have sounded like a distressed voice.

She turned a concerned beady eye on me and very compassionate tone said "it's ok".

This morning I had opened the bottom of his cage cover just a crack before official wake up time, and went over to peek in to see just how much light was getting in. There was that beady eye again, right at the opening, asking "what's the matter?". I said 'shhh, it's not time to get up yet' and he replied 'you go night night, talk nice, get back on your cage'.

Guess that told me!
