I was browsing local classifieds when I came upon some parrots called monk parrots. They look just like Quakers so I was wondering what the difference was? Where I live its illegal to own Quakers (unfortunate dumb law)so I was also thinking if someone might have just put them under that name so they wouldn't get in trouble foe owning them??

Quakers are wild here. The trees around here are full of them. There are also a few other names that people call them.:54::11:LOL

I've seen them sold as "grey breasted conures" in illegal states... some years back now.

Yes, very cool! And they are community nesters. So, the trees ARE full of them! A lot of people do not like them. Noisy, messy, destructive, etc. But, I love watching them. And when the windows are open, my fids & them call back & forth.

Monk parakeet is actually what they are. Quaker and other slangs were made up by other people. Kinda like other slangs we have for certain birds... Yeah they are great birds, but they are illegal for me to. Luckily I know a rescue in Delaware that has them frequently and I am good friends with them so I play with there's:)
