Hi everyone I'm new here this looks like an awesome sight! My family and I are getting a new baby Quaker at the end of this month. He will be 9 weeks and his name is Ozzy. I have had a bird before but not this young, does anyone have any advice about bringing a new baby home? He is in a cage with five other babies that came out of the brooder with him. Hi welcome! My advice would be to not bring the baby home until it is absolutely fully weaned. I'm not sure how old Quakers are when they wean, but if they are anything like other parrots of that size, 9 weeks is not done yet.
Please leave any hand feeding to the person who is doing it now. Please don't let them pressure you into taking your baby early saying that it's only on one feeding per day and it's easy to do. It is best left up to people who are very experienced at it. Many people here will tell you the same and can elaborate on why. Basically too many things 'can' go wrong, as there's more to know than meets the eye. If something goes wrong, it can cost the bird it's life in the hands of an inexperienced hand feeder.
I know you're anxious to get your sweet baby, but it will be well worth the wait if he's completely weaned and ready for a new home.

yep the breeders not gonna let me have him until he is weaned for a week
I'm finishing the hand feeding with my Quaker. He'll be 10 weeks old Thursday and as of today, he's still taking his night feeding only.
My advise on bringing the new little one home is the same as with any parrot.
Keep millet in the cage, water, fresh pellet etch. Start offering fruit and veggies within a couple of days. Sit by the cage and talk softly to him.
My little guy is coming out and climbing all over now. At first he stayed in pretty much unless I took him out.
Now he comes to the door and says step up, step, step up until I go get him.
Quakers are tons of fun! Enjoy him....
