Welcome to the forums Michelle, glad you decided to join us & with that "hey yall," you're not a Yankee.....The Quaker owners around here can pop-in & give you tips on getting them to talk.....I might have popped off with a tongue-in-cheek commentary, but promised one of our administrators ne: Super Moderators.....

Hello Michelle, welcome to the forum and congratulations to you for being adopted by a quaker. All parrots are different, some talk, some do not, but I think it's safe to say quakers certainly have the ability for speech. I can't take credit for teaching my quakers to talk. I think my female quaker learned the English language so she could boss humans and argue. Honestly, our girl never stops talking and she's actively teaching our six year old male quaker to talk as well as she does. She mimics a wide range of noises from crying babies to appliances and car alarms. My best advice is to talk to Binky, play music for him, repeat the words and phrases you want Binky to say. Good luck and be sure to let us know when Binky says his first word or words. :)

I might have popped off with a tongue-in-cheek commentary, but promised one of our administrators ne: Super Moderators.....

A l l e e...Binky is now making the kiss sound back at me and he tried his darndest yesterday to say peek a boo...lol so adorable, honestly if neither him or olly ever say a word it won't matter I just think that would be a cool "bonus" lol. But I really think Binky will learn some words.:)

Hello Michelle! Welcome to the world of quaker parrots and to our community! I have a Quaker too, got her just 4 months ago. She only talks when I am not in the same room with her, or when I'm doing something while my back is turned towards her because she wants to know what I'm doing. She has not learned anything other than "what's the matter with you?", which she hauls at me when I'm busy doing something that does not allow her to sit on my shoulder.

Careful Allee, Texas is not famous for producing favorite sons or daughters who are faithful to their words.....how does that go...something about glass houses & throwing stones...how does that go ? ? ?
