As my title says I may be getting a quaker soonish (hopefully not til the end of next month) and unexpectedly so up until then I will be doing all the research I can on them and already have an avian vet lined up and will be feeding them Zupreem fruit blend pellets and fresh veggies and possibly fruit and even an egg but the egg will only be given once a week or once every two weeks. But any and all information about them is welcomed.

Quaker parrot, Ralph
Congratulations! I've had Ralph, my Quaker, for a few months now, and it's been (mostly) a lot of fun. Quakers are generally quite intelligent, friendly, very active and inquisitive, and sometimes a bit noisy-- but that could be said of most kinds of parrots. The site mentioned in the post above is quite informative; doing an online search for "Quaker parrots" will lead you to a lot more sites, most of which also have lots of useful information.

I'm assuming it's a quaker from the discripition she gave me and I'd rather have the bird with me a responcible owner than someone who has allowed the bird to stay there after it flew into her house even though she really doesn't want it they have no idea what kind of bird it is but i should be finding out more about it tomorrow

Yeah she tried for a few months then gave up. Atleast thats what I was told she also told me that they have looked at pictures of birds on the internet but haven't found anything that matches it, but I really don't believe they looked that hard on the internet at pictures or even about birds. And If I could I'd take the bird right now but I want to be sure to have everything for it. And by that I mean the right food and everything I don't want to have to buy seeds then switch it at a later date to pellets. Or start training one way when I know I want to clicker train. Plus I DO have a cage if it doesn't come with its own but I'd really prefer a different one. I found a huge one last night at birdcagesforless.com for only $100 so hopefully since I should be getting more hours at work soon I'll be able to afford a new set up for the new bird which I'm probably going to name it Blue since it is blue and if I don't pick out a name BEFORE I get a pet it'll NEVER get named. But yeah on that site I found last night I decided to add things to the cart to see how much the basics would cost me and some non-basics as well and for like 50 items its only $400 so I'll probably shop for the bird on that site.

Actually I just found a cage I like better and it's bigger for only $115

from what I can tell I'm either in for a lot of adjusting or if I do it right the training should be easy however due to her comparing a bird to helen kellar and not being accurate about helen kellar being bore blind def and mute it has me wondering if the author of the article is accurate about the training methods.

Careful with the Zupreem, if it's the one with food colouring. Adrian had an allergic reaction to the dyes and his kidneys got inflamed. They do make undyed Zupreem. Roudybush is also good.

We fostered a quaker for 6 months.it was a very sweet bird once it got to know us.
Loved to be in on the action. It used to torment my dog(laughing while he-she did this)My dog didn't think it was funny, but we roared when it happened.:)
Good luck with your new birdie...
