Lucky, Quaker, abt 18/male?
Previous birds: 2 Quakers, 2 budgies, Nanday conure, Indian ringneck, 2 tiels, Red Lory, 300+ finches.
So it looks like Percy is having some escalating liver issues, based on her constantly growing beak, and now her poops look rather green. She's also a stout gal, lazy, and now that it's spring, harasses Lucky into feeding her.

Lucky is a scrawny, nervous type, and doesn't have any health issues besides some periodic chest plucking.

Their vet said what we feed them is fine (Zupreem Naturals, plus a morning treat of kefir smoothie with berries etc, veggies, assorted human food), but I'm thinking maybe the smoothie is too much protein. It's a teaspoon or so from our breakfast smoothies, and also has whey-based protein powder, a banana, flax meal, berries. So maybe I need to cut that out, even though they will be extremely angry.

I really don't want to house them separately, so I want some diet regimen good for both of them. I'm also thinking to start them on Aloe Detox to see if that helps.

Given Percy's age, I want to keep the stressful vet trips to a minimum. She has to go to the vet for beak trims, and it seems like that is getting more often. So I'm looking for home treatment ideas for liver trouble for now.

Any advice?

I've heard that the Aloe Detox is very helpful with many different ailments in parrots, and is certainly worth trying. Milk thistle is said to be helpful for liver problems. You'd need to do some research to find out what form is best to use, and how much to use; I have no experience with it myself.

I decided to give some a try. Luckily Percy likes healthy treats too, so it's easy to put some on her food and she doesn't even notice.

I might try a little myself :)
