My girl constantly licks and preens me to the point of it being irritating! I have to redirect her a lot. I know birds do this in general, but I'm just wondering why it's obsessive. She was rehomed to me a few weeks ago and has adjusted beautifully.
Parrots can be rather single-minded and once working on a particular project, it can be hard to distract them-- but when the preening gets to be too much for you, it's a good idea to try to find some other way for your QP to keep busy (though it doesn't always work).
