Sam's Place! Happy Hut reimagined for a special Quaker parrot

All birds are special but the newest member of our flock has a pretty special talent. He's a Quaker and a builder. We keep him supplied with twigs and sticks to build with and he does the rest. Well almost. Here's an example of Sammy's skills.





After I built Harry's cabin in the woods it seemed only fair to design something for Sammy. Keeping his favorite pastime in mind, I put together a loft and a shelf for him. I added some natural perches and tried to place them where they would be the most comfortable.

No zebras, skunks, quakers or measuring devices were harmed in the making of Sam's place.



The zebra skin comforter and pillow has become a running joke, first with my fellow mods and now with Sammy himself. I added the zebra skin rug to Harry's cabin purely on a whim, it was mistaken for a skunk skin by a fellow mod, much to our delight and has since been referred to as the 'skunk skin' rug. Harry hated it. Sammy inherited it for his loft. He hates it too. Every day after I clean his room, he races in, flings the skunk skin, shakes the pillow until it's dead and tosses it on the floor. Haha, my quakers have better taste than I do.

Thank you! I tried to use the safest materials possible. The whole thing including the furnishings is a rather elaborate chew toy.

Thank you so much, Aquila! I was a pretty serious artist at one time. Then the birds moved in, I've been having a lot of fun with the bird projects, no deadlines, no pressure, and best of all I get to choose the subject. The money isn't great but the birds reward me well.

ROFLMAO @ Sammy ripping off the skunk rug and killing the pillow after you clean his room. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I tell you what, Sammy's got THE coolest bachelor pad around, I'm 100% sure of it. He's got his own MANCAVE!

I had a lot of fun with Sammy and Harry's renovations! I need another Quaker or a bigger canvas. Sweet Pea can't be trusted with anything that looks nesty. The budgies love their flight cage. Poppy has her swing.....

I know for a fact Zilla and Talli have excellent rooms of their own! Terry, tell Talli he's welcome at Aunt Allee's any time and he can bring a few friends.

I don't normally post in this forum cause I don't have a Quaker but I saw the term "happy hut" in the list and had to check it out.

I am SOOOOOO glad I did. @Allee, that whole Quaker condo you got going is just the coolest and cutest thing. I can't imagine how much time and effort it took to make that but it is just amazing. It so clearly shows how much you love your fids!

You could make a killing if you made and sold them (the condos, not the fids haha). LOL.

Hahaha, I don't think I'll be selling any Fids. Or custom huts either, but thank you for the kind compliment.

Thanks for the giggles! It is absolutely absurd!!! The walls are poplar, the paint is vegetable dye applied with a paint brush. I'm glad you like it. Happy to make you smile.
