So after my rescue mission yesterday, I was talking to the lady that runs the rescue. She also breeds some smaller parrots, like quakers and GCC to help support the rescue. She told me she would give me a discount on a handfed baby for running to rescue the birds yesterday. She has a little quaker that I really like, I just wish I had the money right now to get him. She breeds different mutation quakers, and I think her blues are stunning. However, this little guy is green, but he is split for something (I don't remember what she said) and he is much lighter than a "normal" quaker. If you flip him over, his belly is so light that you could call it lime green. He is adorable, and I don't think $200 is bad for a handfed baby, vetted and sexed. She would even supply me with a cage for him, since most of my extra cages are all budgie sized, and I would want something bigger for a quaker.

I really wanted to bring home the sun that I picked up yesterday, but I don't know if my wife could handle that. I mean, she isn't too interested in handling a bird anyway, but I'm not sure if she could handle the noise of a sun. Especially since she sometimes works nights and sleeps during the day. I think I would end up coming home to a very pissed off wife and a strangled bird. I know all birds make noise, but I think a sun's screech would be too much.

Do quakers screech a whole lot? I have never really looked into a quaker before I met this little guy, they were just never really on my radar. Noise is fine, I just want to avoid something that my will keep my wife awake during the day when it's in another room.

Starry isn't terribly loud. Usually in the afternoon the birds all start getting pretty loud but not for long. She squawks when she angry or frustrated. And wants attention. I don't think it's too bad.

That baby sounds so precious!

I think my Ekkie has spoiled us as far as noise goes. She will talk to herself when we're not directly paying attention to her, but otherwise she hardly ever makes noise. A contact call when I get home from work, but that's about it.

Then yeah I guess quakers would be louder than that! But in general as long as they aren't bored or in an empty room I think they should be ok

My first bird was a Quaker and I found him a lot more noisy then I expected. But it wasn't all the time.

Clyde, Quaker; Freddie, tiel; Rocky, umbrella cockatoo.
I have a 'too, in addition to two Quakers, two tiels, a budgie and a starling. At their loudest, during the twice-a-day Squawkfest that Quakers apparently have scheduled through some Central Administration Office, they can't compare to my 'too. And the squawking even then only goes on 10 or 15 minutes. It's usually mid-morning and late afternoon. When we only had one Quaker, once upon a time, he didn't squawk that much at all.

My blue quaker Sophie is only loud when agitated or scared and even then it is nothing compared to other birds. I adore her. The bond we share is ridiculous and life pretty much revolves around her now. I'm def glad I got her and she wasn't even a baby when I got her. She was already a 1 yr and a 1/2 old.
