What a beautiful bird little Nacho is! Congratulations on the new addition to your family! How is the little guy settling in?

Dusty is still in my thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping one day he and Nacho will get to meet one another and become fast friends.

So happy for you all. Nacho is adorable and I'm sure you all will do great. Hoping for a miracle that Dusty found his way home.

The bird shop has them all DNA tested I guess, because when we asked about it they looked up who was what. Found that the dark blue ones (one of which seemed interested in us and we almost picked) were both females and the light blues were both males. We really didn't want to have to deal with potential egg laying problems so we chose the male that seemed calmest. Not that there was much difference, but Nacho just seemed a tiny bit easier going after I held them both for a bit.

Yep, he was already clipped before we met him. Much as I thought it was humane to let them have fun flying around the house, since Dusty got out I believe clipping is best. I mean, I don't think Dusty wanted to escape or get away, he just saw an opportunity to go exploring and had no notion of needing to find his way back until after he got lost. Of course I'm going to be extra careful to not let Nacho out by himself, but I believe he will be much safer if he can't get all the way up into the big ole sky.

He's a pale blue per the bird shop listing, so pallid works if you want to make it sound fancy =)

Wade...what a handsome little dude Nacho is! How old is he?? I have a friend in Idaho who has a "Quacker" < that's what I call 'em lol> and she says "Bo" is a real character lol.
Of course you're gonna hafta supply us here with MANY more pics of this guy!

And like everyone else here..me and Amy and BB are still praying that the Dusty Dude comes to his senses and decides he has had enough "fun" out in the big 'ol cruel world and finds his way home.

Just checking in and agreeing with Jim... we're with you!

I swear: I would break down and GET a Quaker if only the Rbird were a little less of a monster. They are just so cute! And something about their faces' structure and coloration just makes each one so expressive and different.

Quacker, lol. I though he sounded a bit like either a crow or a duck in the car on the way home. I even suggested the name "Daffy" before we decided on Nacho.

I updated my personal info so his birthday shows above my posts now. 5/25/2016 ;)

Oh geez Wade..Nacho is a youngster..3 months old,thats awesome.
Whats his "birdsonality" like? Is he being vocal already with you guys?

Being such a young dude,I am going to assume he is quite handlable already.

I know most people here prolly think I am quite the whacko with all these nicknames I come up with for their fids.. Juliets "'Nut"..aka Coconut..Wades "Dusty Dude"..Al's "Saltmiester"...my "Beebs"..the "little beady-eyed monster" <jonesy> the list goes on and on lol..now I gotta think of something cute for Nacho..this will be challenging!

That's Nacho bird! That's what I call him, heh.

He's mostly quiet and reserved so far but he's only been home for one day now so that's to be expected. I know he can tell the difference between flesh and fabric because he never bites my pants or shirt... owie, he has a lot stronger bite than Dusty! I gently discourage him but he seems very interested in seeing what's under my skin. He doesn't seem to mind handling too much. Dusty would always pull away quickly if I touched his wings or tail, Nacho seems unconcerned. He holds pieces of his food in his foot while he nibbles away, I love that <3. He doesn't seem to care one way or the other about showering so far but again, it's only the first day... The lady at the bird shop said their quakers were just loving their morning shower, so I'm hopeful that he'll be more into it when he starts seeing us as his people. I'll try to get some video soon! :whiteblue:

I took him to the vet for his well birdie checkup and he was super sweet =) Everybody at the Dr office was super sweet and they adored little Nacho. Test results will take a few days but the Dr thought he seemed perfectly healthy and doesn't expect any bad news.

Nacho is getting used to his surroundings and has explored around and under the dining room table so far, looking up at me every several seconds. I think he's getting the idea that I'm watching out for him! Also he seemed a lot less interested in consuming my flesh tonight. That was a relief! He's getting a bit more vocal too... Nothing big yet, just some cute gentle croaks.

I'm a little disappointed by his wing clip and nail trim though :/ He tried several times tonight to fly up from the floor onto a chair or table but can only get about a foot before hitting the carpet again. He did get onto the lower rungs of the chairs but they're round and smooth so he kept slipping off. No harm done since he was about 6 inches off the floor but I hate to see him that helpless. I think I'll let him grow his sharp nails and possibly not clip his wings whenever he gets new feathers. Or at least give him a gentler clip. I don't think it would hurt anything if he can up get 6 or 8 feet. It's the hundred feet flights I want to be sure can't happen.

Couple videos of the baby =)

He's starting to get comfortable I think! He seems interested in more than just hanging out on the one perch now. No doubt he'll be a rowdy little thing very soon =)

You can see he's a pretty calm little birdy. Doesn't care too much about the shower and doesn't protest the towel either.
