Hi. I have a quaker that has bonded strongly with me and is even beginning to talk. Very sweet and not aggressive at all with me. Not sure of sex but thinking maybe a he since it prefers females. I want to get another young quaker to add to family but wondered about others success with this. Does it mess up your bond with your birdy? Do they adapt well to new birdy friends? She loves visiting the shop I got her from when she (I named her Sophie so I call her she) goes for wing clip and she always makes her way to other quakers there. What are your thoughts and ideas? Thanks in advance. :blue2:

Parrots
Quaker parrot, Ralph
Bringing home a second parrot can be like rolling dice-- it's never quite certain exactly what will come up. The relationship between any two parrots can range from total hatred to indifference to becoming best friends. There is always a chance that the two birds can become so completely bonded to each other that they have no interest in human companionship, but that doesn't always happen. Housing the two parrots in separate cages and giving each one individual attention can help prevent a parrots-only bond. Back in April, I adopted a second parrot-- not a Quaker, but a CAG, and I naturally wondered how Quaker Ralph would react after being an "only parrot" for six years. He accepted Scooter the Grey from the start, but isn't interested in a deeper friendship. Scooter is fascinated by everything Ralph does and likes watching him, but likes to keep her distance. In my case, adding a second parrot worked out well. It may have been different if I'd brought in another Quaker instead of a different type of parrot. Hard to tell.
