They are so charming, they could cute the entire human population to death. I love Quakers.

I love Quakers also, but they cause serious problems when they are introduced to ecosystems that they aren't naturally found in. As much as I would love to see wild Quakers flying around, I wouldn't want to see it at the cost of the other native birds disappearing.

This is one of those problems that just doesn't sit well with me, because the only solution is so extreme. You can't reduce their numbers where they have become invasive without culling, but chances are authorities aren't going to pay to have a nuisance species relocated back over-seas. Which means most likely, killing them.

I absolutely hate the thought of killing off such intelligent birds. I also hate the thought of native species becoming endangered or even extinct because of an invasive species. One of those problems with no easy solution.

I love Quakers very much but I have seen them out in Florida on the destructions they have done. I enjoyed watching them while I was there. Majority of people needs to be educated that we got them as pets and they don't belong in our area. They should never be released out into the wild just because.

So the quakers have colonized in Madrid! The are a hardy, prolific, and persistent species. I'm sure they are capable of damage and may be a threat to native species but some communities have learned to successfully coexist, in fact a lot of the wild colonies have loyal admirers.
