I've been whistling La Cucaracha to my Nacho quaker pretty much since I got him and he seems to like it. He often dances to it sometimes as you can see in this older video of him...

More recently he has decided to sing it for himself and it's super funny. He only does it when the TV is on and I'm in the other room so I don't know if I'll ever catch him on video, but hopefully one day! What makes it so funny is that quakers don't have a voice like cockatiels do for whistling, it's much lower. He isn't doing well with the notes or the timing, so his best singing efforts sound a lot like a doggie with his tail under the rocking chair. So much so that I would have ran to check on the dog if I had one. Silly bird!

Wade, Nacho is absolutely adorable. Glad to hear he's still doing great, he's obviously very happy to be a quaker. Any new words? Or photos?

That him whistling? Heck no! He can't whistle to save his life ;) Sounds like a whimpering dog when he tries, which is what I found so darn funny. I'll catch it on video if I can but it might take me a year. He clams right up any time I break out the camera. Have been thinking of getting maybe a webcam or something to put on him so I can record from the other room.

Sorry no new pics and no real new words. He's been saying "I'm a cutie!" for quite a while now and he'll try to sing "cute bird, cute bird" (bad boys, bad boys - Cops TV show song with word substitutions, lol) Can't really understand anything he says but I can get it by the syllables. I'm guessing he'll never be a super talker but he's so darn cute in so many ways he doesn't have to talk to win my heart :whiteblue:

Haha! I secretly got him on video today! He really shuts right up whenever the camera comes out, but today he didn't see it so I got him at last. Of course, having him not see the camera also means the camera doesn't see most of him either. Oh well, it's the best I can do for now. Here's proof that while my little cockroach can't carry a tune too well, he sure does know his song :whiteblue:

OMG times a thousand!

That's is indeerd a UNIQUE interpretation of a whistle!
He does sound like a whiney puppy... or something!

Rb can't whistle either... he just does it vocally in the same little parrot-y voice he sings/says everything else. A wolf whistle is "ROT-ROO!"

I love it.

We should start an album of 'alterative' whistler.

That is so sweet. I love the duet aspect. I just keep playing it. Ole!

Awww, I love Rickeybirds interperetation! Like "mom, that's a really high voice, I can almost get there". So cute!

Nacho has a few different voices and the one on the video sounds more chirpy to me. He also sometimes does one that's more in the yelping dog range but he never sings with that one. But we have a lot of years to see what he comes up with. His first hatchday is still 3 months away!

Wade, thats too funny, and he almost has the note/phrase down pat. And while Salty does talk, I miss some good whistling sessions, like I used to have with my Maxie ( BeeBee parrot). He'd whistle up a storm when we did the dishes together, trading phrases like you are with Nacho.

Wade your Nacho Dude is really a winner. I can't help saying I'd like to rub my nose on his fluffy belly lol.
Even though Amy doesn't whistle a note, her talking is great..but BB...he truly amazes me at his whistling ability, making up his own stuff and rearranging the Addams family/Andy Griffith tunes to his own liking.
