Aww, just sort of a dumb video but the little guy just makes me smile so why not? Two minutes of nothing special but he's so cute and seems to understand NO fairly well ;)

Oh, and he he can fly now! Have to get him clipped again after the last few new feathers are in.

Oh, mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn... how would it be?
He *IS* wonderful.
Has the looks and the personality, and is so sweet and obedient. I love how he tries different spots of the 'NO' area, as if to say "how about here?" "Here?" "How about here?" "Still no? It's all a NO?" "Okay."

Two green cheek conures, one sun conure, and two quakers.
Beautiful colors! I also watched the video "chilling with Dad at work" - so adorable!

Well I let him get used to his new feathers for nearly 3 months, then just last night I took him in for a clip. I felt bad about it, but I'd feel worse if he got out and was lost. Been through that before and it just takes a second. So the guy at the bird shop just takes out the scissors, counts out how many feathers, and *snip*. Repeat on the other wing. Man he took a lot of feathers off. Then I felt doubly bad about it since when I first brought him home to my apartment, he actually fell off my shoulder and bounced off the carpet a couple times. But I don't have carpet here in the house, it's all hard floors. So I told my son not to let the bird sit anywhere high until he gets used to not being able to fly anymore.

I sat him on the floor near the couch and immediately he jumped/flew up onto my knee. Surprised the heck out of me, I didn't think he could do it! Then just to show off he flew over to his cage almost a whole room away! Man what a relief! So he can still get around the house and I don't have to worry about him dropping like a stone. But he's is noticeably slower and less agile in the air than he was so I don't think he would get far if he were to get outside. Not that I plan on testing that theory! We're still going to be careful about opening up the front door of course.

So big relief for me all the way around. Seems the bird shop guy did a perfect clip. Let's my little Mumble bird still get around the place, yet gives us some hope of not losing him forever if some day we have a momentary door/bird timing error.

Wade..I watched his vid once again..Like Ms. Gail said..."here?...no?" "how 'bout here?" No? "and HERE???" NO! lol... such an obedient little Nacho Dude :p Again, I just want to rub my nose in his soft little belly...such a handsome little boy you have there.

I totally understand the clip after the very sad loss of the Dusty Dude :02:
and the little guy still can get around.

I'm kind of fortunate that even tho Beebers has a full set of arm sleeves and he "can" fly some,he prefers to hitch hike on my shoulder..or walk/run.

Thanks for the update on Nacho,Brother!

It's Mumble now Jim. Has been for a long time, haha... Ex GF named him Nacho and I changed it after she exited the picture ;)

And yea, he sure is a sweetie. I'd sure hate for him to get lost or have anything bad happen. Was a huge relief to see that I didn't have to worry about him falling to the floor like a rock!

Aww, what a good birdie! Well it's good that he can still fly, but I would not clip him again. Birds are so much happier and healthier when allowed to fly, and clipped birds can still get outside!! He can still fly, and even if he can't fly very well when inside the house, he can get a gust of wind if he ever gets outside which can carry him up into a tree. A light clip will not stop them from flying away, and a full clip that prevents flight is dangerous because they can fall to the ground and get injured. So, if I were you I would keep his ability to fly, and let him be a bird.

Fortunately he doesn't drop like a rock as I had feared he might. Still seems happy and feisty, just a bit slower than he was.

The wing clip is a backup plan in case he ever gets out, which we are careful to not let happen. But as I found with my first bird, it only takes a matter of seconds for a fully flighted bird to be lost forever. Seconds. Over decades. Careful as I may be, I'm not perfect. And I see hawks around here all the time. I'm fairly certain the reason I never found my first bird was that a hawk found him first. I'm doing all I can to prevent a repeat of that nightmare.

My decision to clip was not made lightly.
