I've had my two rescued quakers for about four months now. Since they were mistreated in the home I'd gotten them from, I've been taking it easy on them. They'd been in a rather small cage so I'd put them into a bigger one as soon as I brought them home. I had them in my bedroom at first-quieter and away from company. Fast forward, they're now in an even bigger cage and they're out in the living room. I put them next to my aviary.
They get pretty crazy when I open the side food/water doors to change food/water. It is funny though, one of them always helps me by opening and closing the food door!
One positive thing happened that other day. The one that helps w/the doors actually took a grape from me and ate it!! It usually grabs something and immediately throws it on the bottom of the cage. I was so excited that I felt like dancing! [emoji3]
I was told these are a male and female but I don't know which is which and struggled with what to name them. I decided on Macaroni and Cheese! I know, pretty goofy! I wanted to stay away from typical male/female names. Anyone have any better ideas for names?
Also, the one that had plucked feathers from it's chest has now gotten half of them back! Yay!!
Sorry to go on. Here's a picture of my quakers.
