Quaker Pooped.........

My Quaker Cujo somehow pooped or managed to get a poop on top of his tail feathers. Honestly don’t know how he pulled it off.

So at first it was funny to me, I though that’s odd I’m sure he’ll clean it off. Nope. So a day goes by and I give a little spray bottle shower, which usually prompts some preening. Nope still there. Next day set up a bath for him, he goes hog wild has a blast but the poop is still ther. By now I have becomed obsessed with it and tried to help him out. I got most of it off just playing with him and a using a damp towel, but now he knows I’m up to something and it is game on. I can’t get anywhere near that tail now. It’s been a week.

So now I’m left with two options literally grab him (which we both hate, I save the grab move for emergency evacuation or vet travel cage) or wait until that tail feather falls out. Lol it’s alway a chess game with parrots, it’s never easy.

It cracks me up having a battle of wills with a 102g parrot, meanwhile I just watched my wife give our dog a bath ( apparently I don’t do it right ) and I swear she washed that dog with in an inch of its life and she just sat there like “crap! I guess this is happening.” Lured the dog into the bathroom with the same treat we use for everything, meanwhile I’m not getting another shot at this Quaker’s tail until 2023!

Well would you want a mouth full of your own poop? I would not personally. What I do is just take a wet wash cloth or a paper towel and wipe it off myself. Mine don't love it and get annoyed but they don't harbor any I'll feelings after it's over. And if he bites when you're doing it just towel him for a few seconds. In your defense he shouldn't have pooped on his tail. Good luck!

My Quaker has done it before but he lets me bath him. You could try getting him to step then just dip his tail in a bowl of warm water and let it soak away x

You could also just put him in the shower with you. Mine were apprehensive at 1sr about showering with me but I got them a perch for the shower and now they love it!

Good call on the shower.

I actually got him in the shower with me and after we stopped disagreeing over shower curtain open or closed ( I lost and it had to stay open ) he settled down and really into it, best part is he finally got that last little smudge off.

Yay! I'm so happy for you guys! He'll come to love a good soaking with you in the shower and it's great bonding time. Mine get mad if I shower without them and scold me in protest if I'm in a hurry and leave them out haha.

Bacca thinks the shower is going to be all fun and games while I am singing "Singing in the Rain" for her. She's gotten so she doesn't much mind the water though she hates it when my wife washs her with hibiclens (she cries, a technique she picked up after a visit by our grandson).

Oh my gosh this thread has my in hysterics. Yes, it’s crazy how a critter we measure in grams calls the shots.
