Quick Learner?

So I’ve had my girl Bluebell for a little over a month now, and I’ve noticed that she picks up new things VERY quickly (or at least quicker than Leo had). For example, about 3 days ago I started pushing air through my teeth when playing with both of them, which makes a squeaky noise. Well she apparently really likes it, because I was shocked yesterday when she started doing it back!

So I guess my question is this: how quickly have you noticed your quaker (or any other parrot, really) learn new sounds?

My love my Neptune can say something he really likes the first time I say it to him. Other things can take weeks or months for him to say. Or he will hear me say something I don't even remember saying. Like this, he asked me what are you doing, I told him, he asked again, and I said why did you ask again I already told you? He said " I'm thinking!!" I was blown away. My other Quaker Penny learned " come here" after two months.. mostly she says things or sounds she already cane to me knowing. But she knows I always laugh when she beeps like the microwave, so she beeps anytime I walk past or stand by the microwave. I laugh, tgen Neptune copies my laugh, so I laugh more !

You wonderful Bluebell is surely very smart! I love hearing other Quaker stories.

They can learn them almost immediately if properly motivated.

I’m not sure, but I’ll put a picture of the second time I saw her at Petco (and brought her home!). Not the best place to get a bird, but she won me over!

She is s lucky lady! And I want to snatch her and add her to my flock!!!! I got both of my GCC at Petco, and I'm thrilled with them. She won your heart fair and square! I hope you both have very happy and long lives together! Keep us posted on her antics!

Update on Bluebell: she’s getting really close to saying her name! We all had some training time today so I decided to teach her how to say it more clearly (+1 for practical application of my future masters degree). I also found out today that Leo now mimics the kissy noises she does. It sure is never boring around here...

I wonder what they’ll do to surprise me tomorrow morning?

Bluebell will be having lots to say within the next few months.

I can't wait to hear what tomorrow brings! Maybe you will take a sweet photo for this months POM ?

Quakers are amazing at learning/mimicking sounds/noises...Even my Lita, who is not a great talker at all (I can understand her but that's about it) can mimic sounds that either I make or that she hears often almost immediately. She mimics my landline phone ringing constantly, and any noise I make to her she just makes right back to me almost immediately...I wish she could talk just as well, but she sounds like she has a lisp, lol...

Consuela, my QP, just turned 6mos. She said, "Peek-a-boo!" at 6mos(27Dec.). Now? "I'm so cute!", "Step up?", and "Kissy-kissy." We are working on her fetching a practice golf ball. I think that I've created a monster! So much fun.
