Plucking?

Hi everyone,
recently iíve noticed my quaker playing with his lost feathers. Iím a bit worried, because he chews the calamus a lot, but i donít know if heís chewing it only after the feather has fallen, or he is plucking, and once he has lost the feather, he keeps chewing it. Does anyone know about this behavior?
Thanks in advance
