Woohoo!!!

Squiggy is coming home in a few hours and we can barely wait!! Such an exciting time!! Seems like just yesterday we first met the little fluff ball, but the last week since we found out when he could come home have felt like an eternity.

Once we get him home I will post some pictures.

What a great day!! lLOL

The Squiggy has Landed!!!

So we have been home for about an hour now and he seems to be doing quite well. When we arrived to pick him up, he had just finished having a mist bath and was looking a little damp, LOL. He was the last of his clutch left to go home, and was all alone in his cage. He eagerly came out of the cage and he promptly fell asleep in my hand, as you can see by the first pic.

Only a bit of fussing when he first went into the carrier, but he calmed down with a few head scritches and the ride home was uneventfull. Once we got him inside, we took him out of the carrier and tried to get him to go into his cage. He wasn't too sure about it and clung to mom like it was the end of the world, lol. Once we got him inside, he once again decided it was nap time, this time on the rope bridge.

We were not sure how long we should take to let him used to his new cage, but we tried to bring him out about 20 minutes later and he stepped up and promptly snuggled up on mom's chest. She took him for a short tour of the upstairs and he seemed interested in the new surroundings. After another 20 minutes we put him back into his cage near the food bowls and he dove right ininto his pellets. He is now perched on the side of his fresh food dish having a nap. I guess so many new sights in a new, larger cage and all the new sounds can tire out a baby bird.

Sorry for not being able to post pictures properly yet, still a noob, lol.

What a love!!!
I rember when Neptune was a baby he napped a lot. Oh sweet babies!

You are doing great, lots if contact and shirt times out of the cage with you is good!! Babies wouldn't be alone in the wild. They would have their hatch mates and parents around, giving the confidence and security. And that leads to better eating.

Weaning time is huge milestones in a babies life. They really need lots of guidance, support and Xtra contact time. This leads to a well adjusted , social, and smart parrot for life, with less behavior issues later in life.

You want to expose him to lots if people, in shirt controlled , safe feeling for the bird, and happy settings. Start teaching foraging, and how to play with toys. With help support and praise. Just like any baby , especially smart social parrots!

My rehome Quaker Pikachu came from a college kid. He must have been exposed to lots of people! As their were room mates, girlfriend , social college kids. Because he's a dream with new people, he lives everyone! Steps up for anyone who comes in the door, gives kisses to them and snuggles!

My baby I didn't expose to lots of people, and he hides and screams when new oeoe show up.

My GCC I did have the chance to expose to lots if people while young she will step up for anyone to, but she won't let the touch her. But is happy to take a safflower seed from anyone.

So happy for you! Looks like such a great baby!!!
