Exclamation Urgent!....is my baby baby parrot sick?

i have 2 baby parrots which are about 4 months old, they are still hand-fed. they are active and in my own view; healthy. but my problem is, i have read in an article online that their crop must get empty once every 24 hrs..i am worried because one of them, its crop is bigger than the other one. i am still going to observe today if its crop will get smaller.

my question is, is it normal for a every parrot or even birds to have different crop sizes and figures?and is it normal for them to have a big crop

It's hard to tell without a picture. If you're at all worried, I'd say a visit to an avian veterinarian is a good idea!

Re: Urgent!....is my baby baby parrot sick?

There should not be a problem if the crop isn't over-stretched. But to answer your question crop size depends on the volume of formula the chick consumes. But yes the crop should be completely empty each 24 hours. If fresh food is feed on top of old food you risk your bird getting crop infections. When the crop is totally empty it shouldn't be saggy it should be firm against the body. You should be only able to see an extended crop when it's full of food.

A 4 month old chick should be weaned. How many feeds a day are you giving them & are you offering them soft foods so they can learn how to eat their own foods? I am really not sure what your worried about & are we talking about the Blue Naped Parrot.

yes were talking about the blue nape parrot...

ill post some pictures of them later today..

this is my problem to make it more clear:

i have two parrots, haven't named them yet, lol..

the other ones crop is smaller about 10cm in diameter..

the other one is a bit more bigger, its wider i mean..it actually reaches its wing..about 20cm wide and 10cm in height..

the thing is, they are about the same age..and yesterday, i fed them at the same time but the one with the bigger crop didn't get flat...it went a little smaller but did not get flat...
