Re: how much formula should be given to them?

What beautiful birds!

I'm new to this, but with Alex I've been using a spoon shaped like a cone/beak so the formula is directed to his mouth. I just load the spoon up with food and put it where he can grab it. He will then eat as many spoonfuls as he wants, once he's done and has a full crop he stops eating. I like this way because he's getting how much he wants and eating at the speed he wants to (and I'm more confident with a spoon then syringe as I fear I would choke him otherwise), but I don't like how I can't measure how much he is eating in one sitting. I just feed whenever he starts chirping at me for some food or his crop is looking a bit empty. He's weaning now though so he wants the formula less and less.

Not that that really helps you out

Re: how much formula should be given to them?

They look like they could possible be about 10 to 12 weeks old, that's just my thoughts.
I fed Mishka from 6 weeks old (an African Grey) with a syringe. I began giving him,
x2 5 ml of formula, three times a day. Monitored him carefully, watching his crop etc.
Mishka will be 4 years old in November, and still has formula each morning, x2 20lm.
He loves it, it's healthy for him, and if ever any medication was needed, he would not object to the syringe AND it has formed such a great bond between us.

Re: how much formula should be given to them?

Havergara I have provided you with many links either by PM or on this forum that should help you with the successful hand raising of your babies. If you follow & understand those links you shouldn't have any problems & if you do have a problem you should take the babies to a Vet & have them checked.

I have told you the approx age & amount of formula your babies should be having a day. I cannot understand how you think your still having worries. Each baby is different, some will eat more than others, some are nosier, some a very quite & shy.

The thing is we can't see if you are doing things correctly we can only advise by the information you are giving us & if you have needed to make changes & if your still worried about your babies well then you have to see a Vet or at least find someone that breeds the birds you have.

I am sorry I cannot help you anymore than i already have, it's really up to you. Please read through all the links i have sent you & hopefully you will feel at ease knowing you are doing the best possible job.
