How do you preen a feather?
What does a pin feather that is ready to be preened look like?
What areas should you not preen?

This is all for a sun conure, I have a baby one that I'm just learning how to raise and such.

Please let the bird preen feathers. The only place they have a problem with is top of head. a pin feather is a new feather growing in. It is encased in a keratin type casing that can be painful to the bird if touched too early. the keratin begins to dry up and turns white. It is dry by then and you can take the feather between your fingers and roll it. This action will help remove the case. You only want to do this on the head though. My poor Rosie is miserable during a molt.
