Acorn - a Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure;
Bob - a Cockatiel;
Cricket - an American Budgie
It's that time of year again, and I am hearing fireworks in the distance, not close yet. I have had several dogs who found fireworks to be disturbing, and was wondering if I should expect Bob to have a similar response?

So far he has not seemed to notice them.

Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
Wondering the same thing with my Keats. I guess we'll see. One of my cats is terrified of any loud noise, and I play music to drown out thunder, fireworks, or anything else. If Keats is frightened, I'll try the same for him.

Where we stay there is a massive 15-20 minute firework display every Monday night at 9.30 pm! Our dog Gaelan gets a little "clingy", but I ignore it as I really don't want to encourage the behaviour.
As for Calli our BFA:green:? He just sits there, not a shiver, not squeak, nothing.... it doesn't seem to be an issue. However, that may just be due to the fact that it is EVERY week (weather permitting!) and he's used to it. But I never saw any major reaction from him even the first time. He puffed up a bit, and coo'd slightly, but no panic reaction.
I'd just make sure your bird is a place where he knows he's safe and comfortable.... to me I treat the fireworks I would a thunder storm.... they'd just shelter in a safe place.:)

If you don't mind my asking; where do you live to have a weekly fireworks show?

We live on a boat at Ocean World Marina in the Dominican Republic. And once a week the condo residents change over and there is a massive beach party for the new holiday makers. It's about a mile away, so when the big boomy ones that vibrate the inside of your chest go off... we can feel them!
PS: ;) don't get all jealous about living on the boat thing... once the poo tanks fill up....... eeuuwwwww!:eek:
