I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
I was told both TAG's and Too's both have vary high dander. I have my heart set on a baby TAG, but I think I might take a rescue if it falls in my lap again.

I call this bird bob, he came to the shelter the 3 of july, I spent a half an hour with this poor bird, his beak needs work, and his claws need to be worked on, one is accually bent or broken where it faces up when he curls his claws, almost as if his toes were broken backwords and healed that way. and his feathers are so ragged, not plucked, but ragged, some even split up the centers, so I dont think he can fly.

I cant take the bird, I am going to be jobless here in just a few days, I have an Interview here in a few hours. But this is the third Too that Ive come in contact with and found that they are vary agreeable with me, even if they are (evil mean tempered) unmanageable, as told to me by their former owners.

I was wondering the temperment between the TAG and the Too, personality, are they vary dependent on their owners? I will have a job that requires me to work 8 hours a day and I wont beable to take him with me. Id like to know the diffrence in dependancy. I am not going to get a bird that cant be left alone 8 hours a day...thats part of the reason why I havent gotten one before now, as it is.

hummm at some point we all have to leave our birds, and i do wonder if it goes back to quality of time rather then quantity

as there have been weeks, when nuts had 4 in a row days when, shes had all day by herself, 8am till 4pm, and the rest some hours alone and she seems happier by it, as in less beaky/bitey! and other days when i've had all day with her an she gets for the lack of a better word. bored an gets beaky/bitey for what ever reason?

when she has been by herself all day we make more of an effort to head scratch etc, when we are at home all day, we end up doin our normal house hold chores etc

not speaking from experiance, but rather practical reasons as we have to work to provide for ourselves an family

and good luck for the interview!

good news, I got the job, but it will be a month where I am in the grey and will be pinching pennies, my new job gives me the weekends off, I will be traveling now and again, but the job isnt so strict, I only work from 9 to 5 and will be getting better pay.

Anyway, besides Dander and the basics of food and such, whats the diffrence between African Greys and Toos?

I like the Idea of them being more into the family when I get home... I hate the Idea of having to do that for the next 30 years, but its only 30 years, but I went threw my first 30 years in a blink of an eye.

My ex had an umbrella cockatoo. She didn't talk much. She said, "Hey Gabby" a lot and various tones meant different things. lol I wanted to love that bird. I really did. Their bond was so strong. He'd come home from work and the first he did was play with Gabby.

I was jealous. *ahem* And Gabby bullied the ever loving snot out of me. Only when Stephen wasn't home, of course. When he was home she would love on me and cuddle and let me work on her pin feathers.

I don't know about greys. Elsewhere in this forum someone said they weren't really cuddly. Gabby was super snuggly with Stephen. I do remember that. She would sit on his lap and watch tv until she fell asleep.

I've had two 'too's of my own, a goffin and a citron, and I've worked with quite a few that weren't mine. My goffin was the biggest, and most jealous, lovebug that I have ever known. I could literally do anything with her(I could hold her on her back and toss and catch her, she would gently hold my finger with her beak and let me lift her like that, etc.) but she didn't like anyone else that I was close to. For instance, she liked my boyfriend, would give him cuddles, let him hold her, etc, but as soon as he moved in with us and she realized that he was my boyfriend she went into hate mode. She would lunge at him, bite him, scream at him, he couldn't do anything with her. If anyone so much as gave me a hug in front of her she would let out a blood curdling scream. She wanted to be with me at all times and if I would leave her sight she would scream. We did work out a schedule though, she knew when I was leaving for work(usually 6-10 hours) and she knew that before and after work she would be out and be with me, I think it has a lot to do with what suebee said, about it being quality of the time you spend with them, and developing a routine that you can stick to. On the other hand, I have never had a grey but I have known A LOT of people that have, and in all honesty out of all of the people that I have know that have greys, only 1 or 2 were actually handable, and quite a few of them I know for a fact were gotten right after they were weaned. I am not saying that greys are mean, I just think that they are very very intelligent birds and they seem to like to do things on their own terms. Although I'm sure you have much more bird knowledge than the average person that just goes out and buys a bird and a grey, in my opinion, may be more suited to being home alone everyday. Like I said, I have never had one of my own, this is all based upon the ones I have known. Personally, I have a huge soft spot for 'toos and if my current situation was a little different I would probably have another one, but right now I can't commit to a bird that has the potential(and likelihood) of being a screamer. Our little alexandrine is awesome though, she hasn't made a peep except for her sleepy beak grinding since we've had her. :)

I do not know much about too's and one of the few things I know about grey's is that they require a lot of attention. I believe that the reason that the too's you met may have been that they were acclimating themselves to a new environment and were not yet ready to be demanding (for lack of a better word).
